The Sneezing Goose
One very vivid memory I have was when I was at the zoo and I was only two-years old. My mother had brought me there to see the horses because when I was younger I was obsessed with ponies and horses. When I reached the zoo I started to beg her to let me go to the stables. Thankfully I had remembered to bring apples and carrots to feed the horses. I walked over to the stables, breaking the carrots into small pieces while asking my mother to cut up the apples. As I started feeding the horses, a goose, flapping its wings in the wildest manner, came running towards me. I thought it was going to attack me, so desperate for help, I screamed the loudest I could and attracted the attention of passers-by. Moreover, I think I had startled the goose too because it suddenly froze in its tracks and did not make a single move. Everyone turned towards me trying to figure out why I was screaming at the sight of a mere, innocent goose. I felt so embarrassed and wished there was a hole in the ground for me to squirm into. However, I managed to regain my composure before anyone dialled ‘nine nine five’ to report a mentally unstable child. The curious passers –by soon walked away and I continued feeding the horses, completely forgetting the fact that there was a monstrous goose behind me. Suddenly, I felt something pecking at my leg. It was the goose!!! As I was just about to run back to my mother, the goose started to open and shut its mouth over and over again so I guess it wanted food as it was hungry so out of sympathy I shoved a piece of carrot in its mouth. I turned back to feed the horses and it started pecking at my leg again. Annoyed, I literally swung around so hard that I almost lost my balance and fell over. The goose nodded its head vigorously, and inexplicably I somehow understood that it wanted to squat on the ground so that I could reach its height. Out of the blue it sneezed the chewed, slimy, disgusting carrot bits onto my face. This time I was seriously shocked, scared out of my wits and totally grossed out. However, this time I did not scream instead I started to cry.
My mother, upon hearing my screams, rushed over and brought me to the toilet and washed me up but I was still traumatised over the incident. Ever since that incident which freaked me out, I have always hated geese.

Bittersweet Memories
Memories are bittersweet. Some are bitter. Some are sweet. Sweet memories are your happy times. Bitter memories are your sad memories. You experience both kind of memories in your life. There is always something that make you happy, and some things that make you sad.
I do have bittersweet memories. My sweet memories are the times spent togather with the people I love, like with my family members and friends. The happiest times with my family are family outings. Especially those overseas trips. They were the best. I loved the times my family and I went overseas. We don't go overseas often, which makes me treasure those memories.
I remember in 2007, we went to Thailand. We stayed in Pattaya for about one week, I think, because I had to go for a chess tournament. After that, we went to stay in Bangkok for about 2 days. We went on a boat for some time, and there were even some shops on water! We bought some souvenirs. They were so nice! I can't remember how long the ride was. Maybe one hour? It was the best boat ride ever I can remember. Well, other sweet memories include the time when we went to Genting Highlands last year. It was so fun there. I loved the Outdoor rides! It was the first time my fear for roller coasters and other such scary rides faded away. I became braver! We also went to Kuala Lumpur last year, we stayed there before we went to Genting Highlands, also for 2 days. There, we stayed at a hotel, or it's not exactly a hotel, actually a residence. It was like our house. There was a kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms, 2 toilets, just almost like any house. But, of course, as we were only staying there for 2 days, we didn't really make use of the kitchen, but it was still enjoyable there as we went around to places nearby. But sadly, we didn't get to go high on the Petronas tower as there was only a limited number of people who could go up but we were too late. Even then, I enjoyed my time there a lot. There are way too many sweet memories to list on...
My bitter memories include times when we were embarrassed by someone, or our friend ditches me, or when someone makes me cry. All those memories are too bitter to be told out, so I'm not going to talk much about bitter memories.
How I wished, everything that happened to me was very sweet and never bitter...
But that won't give the right flavour to our lives...A life too sweet would be too tiring to live with...but we need all kinds of experiences...

Stacey's essay=) --> marks by Shrida
I was hoping to write about my bittersweet memories in primary school but since the last year is much fresher in my mind I shall just write about that…
Once, there was a Healthy Lifestyle week, where my class won first prize for both categories: skipping and eating fruits, my whole class were elated! Although the prizes were lame (small cereal boxes and little sticky notes), our prize was the glory and pride we received.
In June, we had our p6 camp in school. It was one of the best camps I have ever been to. On the first day, after the motivational speeches to prep us for PSLE, we went for a walk near McRitchie Reserve. My group even witnessed a monkey snatch a snack from my friend’s hand! Then at night, we fell asleep after the movie screening of “Night at the Museum 2”. And on the next day, we played many fun games in school before proceeding to do Dragon Boating. WE HAD THE TIME OF OUR LIVES. Although it was scary at first since it was everybody’s first time, in the company of each other, we soon tossed aside our fears and began to have fun. We raced with other classes, sang our hearts out and didn’t care although we got splashed.
I remembered after our PSLE, we were really relieved and excited since all our stress had melted away and we could focus on relaxing and playing. We brought Uno cards, board games, poker cards and the boys brought Duel Master cards. We also had to attend a lesson to learn how to hip-hop. It was actually quite fun although I suck at dancing. I dance like I have two left feet. :P The school also organized for us a digital photo-album course for us. So for the remaining weeks in school, we were supposed to take photos. When we went on a class fieldtrip to the Singapore Discovery centre, we had tons of fun on the bus trip as well as during the excursion itself…
Then time quickly flew and before I knew it, it was already the graduation night. On the night, I only wore a simple blouse and jeans thinking that everyone wouldn’t actually dress up that much even though our theme was “Starstruck”. But I felt ridiculously underdressed compared to the other girls wearing dresses/skirts. Even some of the guys in my class had even made the effort to wear button-down shirts with jeans. However, I had an amazing time at the party.
We had a lucky draw where our collected entry tickets would be drawn from a box; a Gongshang Idol where our fellow students put up outstanding performances that blew us, the audience, away; a section where 3 selected students of each gender who were the best dressed were forced to do a catwalk on stage and Ms/Mr. Gongshang would be crowned according to the volume of the audience’s cheers for each person! The highlight of the night was when the teachers of the p6 level danced to the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta’ Feeling”. It was AWESOME. You should have heard the cheers. On that night, we had a delicious spread for our buffet dinner.
The funniest event of the night? It was when we had to stand up and shake our bodies and wag our fingers along to the song “Nobody” by the Wonder Girls that would be played randomly anytime during the night.
I love Gongshang and my class! I will never ever forget them! They will forever be in my heart!

I was eagerly waiting for my eighth birthday but just the month before it came, my mother told me we were not celebrating it. I was extremely disappointed and sad but told her it was okay.
On my birthday though, my mother sent me to my friend’s house in the afternoon in my best dress. I was too young to be confused. At my friend’s house, I was told that her family was going to somebody else’s house for her birthday party and that she shared the same birthday as me. I had never heard of her that girl before, so I assumed that she was somebody they knew and I did not. ( I was a stupid kid) They had packed the girl’s birthday gift in fancy paper and were refusing to tell me what was inside. Again, I was too ignorant to insist on asking what was inside. I was envious of her that she got to celebrate her birthday and I did not. However, I wanted to be a good sport and not a whiny kid, so I went along with them.
They drove me to a place very near to my house and parked just outside the block beside mine. We walked to my block and entered the lift. I was very unaware of my surroundings and did not bother to ask why we were going to my house. I readily agreed to open the door of my own house and when I did, the house was pitch black.
Suddenly, when I was about to question my friend’s parents on why they had brought me home when there was no one there, the lights were switched on and all of my friends shouted, “Surprise! Happy birthday!” My jaw dropped and remained there for at least thirty seconds. I looked around my house and saw that it was decorated with balloons and streamers. There was a magician standing in the middle of the living room with the sofas pushed to sides. Later, when I asked if they had been planning the party since the month before, they told me that the idea had suddenly sprung up that day.
That was my most memorable birthday party. I learnt that even birthday parties could be surprising sometimes...

Favourite Primary School Memory
My favourite primary school memory was in the class when we used to talk to each other, oblivious to the teacher talking. Then when she noticed, we would suddenly sense it and stop talking. We would also pass notes around. Everyone enjoyed in the class. I used to talk non-stop and when the teacher noticed, i would write on my book for the girl talking to me to see. Talking about them, it makes me miss them...
My favourite primary school memory
My favourite primary school memory was after PSLE and we had all the time in the world to play.We were dancing, signing autograph books, and having the time of our lives.I love to read so my most memorable moment was when i was in the school library with my head buried in ny book.I was reaching the climax of the story. It was so exciting and i could not wait to read on.'There no way i am stopping now,i am never putting down this book'i whispered to myself.Just then i heard my name being called. As i looked up gingerly,i saw my form teacher satnding with her arms akimbo.
I swallowed hard and looked up at her,i thought i was in deep trouble and was ready to cry.Just then she a huge grin stretched across her face.'Nediva, i am so proud to inform you that you are tge new library representative for the level.Congratulations!'I heaved such a huge sigh of relief that i ithink the whole world could hear me.So that was the story-my most memorable moment in primary school.

Primary School Memory...
Thinking of Primary School reminds me of my friends who were so nice and kind to me. Both my class friends and CCA friends...I really miss them now. I still remember those days when we could talk to one another everyday, but now it's the secondary school friends with whom we talk with everyday and see them too. I wouldn't be able to see or talk with my Primary School friends in different school often. I only occasionally talk to them. It's so sad, when we have to depart our old friends and find our new friends...
I can't remember much about Primary School anymore. Secondary School is taking up most of my life ...But definitely, I still remember my friends. I would never forget them though...I sometimes wish I can turn back the time...but it's impossible...life has to go on and many things come in and go out of your life...

my personal recount
Some thinhs change our lives drastically. The one thing that changed my life and perception about animals was my first pet-a terrapin.Although we never gave it a name,we wre very attached to it and my whole family was very sad when we had to release him into a pond because he was growing exceptionally fast and his tank was getting too small for him.I never really thought that animals had actual feelings. One day when i returned from school,i was feeling very bored so i decided o play with it.Little did i know that it did not like to be human-handled and i tried to control it but it was constantly trying to squirm away. Finally,it reached the limit of frustration and did its business on me.That was one of my most disgusting encounters but at least i understood that animals have feelings too and that we must treat them the way we want to be treated.
When i think of "dog", it will remind me of the first time i gave away my dog. She was given to my mother's colleague who lives in a condominium. The adults were talking near the swimming pool when suddenly, my dog dove into the swimming pool! :O But she was paddling near the edge so i quickly pulled her back by her leash...At that time, my emotions were all jumbled up. A mixture of fear, shock and amusement.
MY DOG ROCKS TO THE MAX! IT IS AWESOME. LIKE ME. HAHAHA:D

I can't really remember the scariest moment of my life...But as long as I remember, there's one I can say...
I was on the DHL balloon with my family. (in Singapore, they have closed it down a couple of years ago...) I used to be super scared of heights. So, I was rising up in the balloon, then i looked down...IT WAS SO DAMN SCARY! I was young then, only 9 or 10 years old. I was super duper scared! I was afraid that I would fall down. I was 150 metres above ground you know? Okay, this sounds very boring...How about this...
Well, AT LAST I REMEMBER! One day, I was dreaming away in my bedroom, and everyone else had slept. Then, a weird noise interrupted my thoughts and I looked around to find the most horrifying thing...A GHOST! There was movement...and I was SUPER SCARED and I screamed hysterically! Everyone in my house woke up, and then they turned on the lights, to find NOTHING AT ALL! I was so super scared! Now still...
WOW. I LOVED IT:D
MAYBE ANOTHER DAY MIGHT HAPPEN TO ME AGAIN...
BUT I'M NOT AFRAID NOW...
BECAUSE I DON'T BELIEVE IN GHOSTS ANYMORE...
I BELIEVE WE CREATE 'GHOSTS' DUE TO OUR FEAR...

When I think of the word 'pet', the day I got my pet dog comes to mind. I was doing a math test at home and my parents were out. I was halfway through my test when my parents came back and rang the doorbell. My sister opened the door and shouted, "Dog!" I thought that my parents had just bought some soft toy for us but when my mother opened the door of my room, I realised she was really holding a real, live dog! My first reaction was a shout of "Dog!" in astonishment (and I had thought that my sister was squealing over some soft toy). My test was completely forgotten for the rest of the afternoon. Therefore I was not surprised later that I did not do well for it. My dog is two years old now.

The first time I drank NEWater, it was so tasteless! I spitted the water out of my mouth! It was the worst water I could have tasted! Even the school water, which is not very nice either, is much better than NEWater!
There can be many other liquids that tastes much better than normal water, but of course, we need to drink water or else we will not survive. No matter how horrible it might taste, all of us still need to drink water. The three important things essential for life includes air, water and food. So, definitely, we must drink water!

THE Scariest Moment of my life
The scariest moment of my life was when my mom recommended me to watch a horror movie in which a car was evil. The car looked almost like the new black BMW cars on the streets these days, with the bright yellow and white lights against the dark background. It was really scary because the car only attacked at night. On top of that, I watched the movie at night. In the end, the hero of the movie blew up the car. Despite the happy ending, I had nightmares at night and feared my own black Mitsubishi car for about two days.

Blog Review
I would give this blog a ‘2’ for presentation and layout because its layout is usable however not very attractive. The blogger has used a very normal and common background and the blog is full of words and stories, there is a shortage of pictures, captions, etc. The layout is neat and organised, the recount is written in short paragraphs and each of the paragraphs is given headings making it easier for the reader to know what each paragraph is talking about. Maybe the blogger could have made his blog more colourful instead of using the standard colour black. I would give the blog a ‘2’ for graphics because there are not very many pictures but a lot of words and it is an eyesore to read so many words without any interesting pictures. However it can be seen that the blogger has put in some effort to include pictures in his blog. I would rate the blog a ‘4’ for graphic and design because it can be seen that the pictures were chosen carefully. Each of the pictures was related to a different paragraph. The blogger’s recount was about his holiday in Paris so the pictures which were chosen implied something about Paris. I would rate this blog a ‘4’ in terms of interest because the blogger has obviously showed that he wrote general things that most people may be interested in for example when the author wrote about how he had to choose a hotel, he did not go so much into detail as what kind of hotel he liked but the general procedure of what choosing a hotel is like. The topic the blogger has chosen to write on is a suitable topic because many people are interested on going for holidays not only him. Therefore the writer has done a good job by choosing a subject that people generally have interest in.

The scariest thing happened to me on 4 April 2004.I was only primary 1!Well,that day my friend sent me a chain email about some ghost and i did not heed it and just deledted it but who knows, something really scary happened. At about 1am in the morning i was getting ready to go to sleep and just as i entered my room, i heard banging noises as if something heavy was banging against another solid item.My first reaction was to run out of my room. However,i decided to muster up my courage and i walked into my room.To my horror,i saw my desk chair vibrating very violently gainst my table. As all Primary ones would do,i let out a loud screan that woke up the whole house. That night and the following three nights i did not dare sleep in my own room so i slept in my brother's room. However, what puzzles me most was te fact that the chain email said that i would face the most horrifying thing in my life if i deleted it.So,was it really because of the chain email or my hallucination?Till today i still wonder.

Stacey's saddest moments
One of my saddest moments was when i gave away my Jack Russel Terrior. My dog is a breed of really active dogs but she's not allowed to roam aound in my HDB flat because she might break something. So we had to keep her in the balcony. My family figured it would not be fair not to give her freedom. Moreover, the neighbours even complaint because of her constant howling and barking. In the end we had to give her away to a man who lives with his family in a condominium in Jurong. I know she should be even happier there(they have another dog to keep her company=P) but i still miss her badly...

2nd blog review
blog:http://www.kikokumi-lurvesx3.blogspot.com//
I feel that the writer's blog's layout and design is wonderful as the blog skin is very appealing. Moreover, it is easy to locate all the important elements as the blog can be navigated easily. Unfortunately, there is not much graphics on the blog, hence, making it not that interesting. The writer tries to make the content interesting as possible to the readers. There are not that many grammar errors aside from the misuse of broken english and vulgarities. Her stories are somewhat related to the topic to give a sense of understandment to her readers. Her sentences are fragmented and her paragraphing is not that good. She does not use a very wide variety of vocabulary either. Her sentence structures when read aloud, may not be understood by non-Singaporeans as alot of Singlish is present. Lastly, she does not make that much spelling and grammar mistakes.

Blog rating
I think this blog is not very interesting as there are no pictures and the theme has no relation to the personal recount. However, the owner makes the her recount interesting by using certain words that can capture the reader's attention to her blog.

blog review for english
blog: http://valariee.blogspot.com/
I feel that the blog has a very nice and attractive skin that is both meaningful and adorable. The graphics are somewhat related to the skin’s theme and it is of good quality. The writer has included a comment box, music player to beautify her blog. She also has pictures to illustrate her posts and give the reader’s a sense of understanding through being able to see what happened. There are not much spelling errors aside from the frequent informal words like the addition of unnecessary letters, misspelled words, abbreviations, etc. Her entire story is related to her title to allow her readers to understand and connect. Her sentences are mostly complete and the paragraphing is just fine. Her language is excellent. However, her choice of vocabulary is not all that great. Most of her sentences sound perfectly normal and easy-on-the-ear when read out. The writer also makes very few grammar mistakes but several spelling errors could be seen.
